I'm no different from most.  I grew up in a lower middle-class home and we didn't have a lot.  I wore hand-me-downs and off-brand clothes.  My dad worked demolition and always brought stuff home from the sites he cleaned out, so we rarely had brand-new things.  So, as you can imagine, I faced my share of teasing from the other kids. My mom did her best with what she had to work with and that meant serving  Hamburger Helper until I got so sick of it that you can't even put it in front of me to this day!  When I started working, I was determined to prove that I had "made it."  I bought a new car, moved out, got married really young and started racking up a mountain of credit card debt. It all came crashing down when I lost my job just as my new son was born and I was so stressed out and scared of bill collectors that I felt I had no choice but to file bankruptcy.   That began a journey of self-discovery and transformation as I did everything in my power to make sure I never had to file bankruptcy again.  I read tons of books on money, attended seminars and even became a registered financial advisor.   I soon realized I didn't like selling investments and insurance, but much rather preferred helping them with the basics of money management like budgeting, saving and paying down debt.  That's fun to me!
